The survey set out to determine if satisfaction differs between O&P patients using different devices and to identify factors that influence client satisfaction. It included items related to demographics, quality of life, device comfort, device use, the extent to which clients’ needs were met, and satisfaction with services.
A cross-sectional design was used to survey 7,318 clients who received devices between August 2021 and August 2022; 2,925 surveys were returned, reflecting a response rate of 41 percent.
The mean Orthotics Prosthetics Users Survey-Satisfaction with Services (OPUS-CSS) point score was 61.9 with differences observed between device categories. The factors that were identified as most positively influencing client satisfaction were being a limb prosthesis user and being under 65 years old.
Patients were most satisfied with the level of respect they were shown by staff and less satisfied with coordination of services with other therapists/doctors. While users were reasonably satisfied with the services they received, the researchers suggest establishing why prosthetic users are more satisfied than orthotic users and why clients under 65 years old report higher satisfaction scores.
This survey was conducted in Sweden.
