The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) announced that the Medical Review’s Targeted Probe and Educate (TPE) program is set to resume after being temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
CMS authorized the Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) to conduct a ten-claim preview of round one in addition to the normal TPE process in an effort to help ease some of the burden on providers, facilities, and suppliers. If the round one preview results in zero errors, no further action will be required, and the TPE review will be closed.
Several webinars to review the TPE process will be held over the next few months. Registration for these events will be available on the Noridian Medicare website.
