The difference between an expert witness and a clinician is that you are paid for your knowledge and communication skills, not your hands and clinical expertise. Attorneys want an expert witness to be able to clearly communicate and explain complex topics, be coachable and open to and accepting of feedback from the legal team, confident to overcome difficult situations, and candid with the ability to fairly assess merits of a situation.1
