Videos, Bloggers, PECOS, and Other Big Changes

This has been a year of major changes for both the O&P profession and The O&P EDGE . In my April 2009 Viewpoint, I announced a major redesign of the oandp.com website. We made a lot of great technological upgrades, improved the navigation, and began categorizing the content from The O&P EDGE into "channels" so that searching for information would be faster and easier. Now, we've gone even further: we recently revamped the oandp.com homepage to make navigating it more intuitive, and we've added two new highly anticipated features: videos and blogs.

Please check out our first video project-coverage of the 2009 AOPA National Assembly-and then consider sending us your videos. This month, we will also welcome two bloggers to our online space. Patty Johnson, vice president of Ron Sonntag Public Relations, will write an O&P marketing blog; and Jon Batzdorff, CPO, will write a clinically oriented blog with a focus on his expertise in vacuum suspension. If you have an area of expertise that you'd like to share with visitors to oandp.com and The O&P EDGE website, we'd love to hear from you.

Since the beginning of 2009, changes within the O&P profession have been at the forefront of our coverage-surety bonds were introduced, O&P advocates worked (and continue to work) to maintain strongholds in the healthcare-reform legislation, and the first stage of the Medicare Provider Enrollment, Chain, and Ownership System (PECOS) policy was implemented. From my own perspective, the economic outlook for O&P is promising: It looks as if the O&P profession may be rebounding from the recession. Just look at our classifieds this month-businesses are hiring! We receive inquiries about new classifieds almost daily, and we're publishing a record number this month. O&P business is looking good!
