Stockwell Presented with the Wilma Rudolph Courage Award
Melissa Stockwell, CP, was presented with the Wilma Rudolph Courage Award from the Women’s Sports Foundation, at an October 2013 ceremony in New York, New York. She is the first female American soldier to lose a limb in the Iraq war; she lost her left leg due to a roadside bomb. She is a 2008 Paralympian in swimming, and in September 2013, won a silver medal in the Paratriathlon Female Tri-2 division at the World Triathlon Grand Final London, England.
