The Prosthetic and Orthotic Component Clearinghouse (POCC) has moved. It will now be housed at the Bobby Dodd Institute (BDI), 555 14th Street Atlanta, Georgia 30318, and the operations will be overseen by Prosthetic Hope International, formerly Sonrie Ministries.
POCC was founded in the summer of 2007 as a way to keep usable O&P goods from ending up in landfills by redistributing them to people and projects that need the components and materials. It also serves as a way to provide individuals, manufacturers, distributors, and facilities a means by which to receive tax deductions for donations of O&P goods.
“I am so relieved and excited that POCC will be able to continue providing P&O goods to people and projects that need them,” said Rob Kistenberg, MPH, CP, LP, FAAOP, founder of POCC and Prosthetic Hope International. “Over the past five years we have distributed almost two tons of P&O goods domestically and around the world and it would have been a shame if this work would not be able to continue.”
“We are delighted to partner with Prosthetic Hope International to continue the work of POCC,” said Wayne McMillan, CAE, president and CEO of BDI. “Our organizations have a common goal of helping those with disabilities so it is a really good fit.”
Effective immediately, individuals, P&O facilities, and manufacturers can send donations to the above address; this address is for boxed shipments only.
