Ashlie White has been selected the 2021 O&P Woman of the Year by the Orthotic Prosthetic Group of America (OPGA). White received the award during a virtual event on September 21.
“I am so honored to be the recipient of the OPGA O&P Woman of the Year Award,” she said. “This recognition is validation of the work I’ve done so far, but it’s also a reminder of the responsibility to continue pushing for advancements in the O&P profession and access to care for the patients we serve.”
White is the director of health policy and strategic alliances with the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (AOPA). She has worked and contributed to O&P in a diverse and progressive manner for roughly the last 13 years, and her ability to educate, advocate, and voice opinions, including unpopular ones, has engaged and encouraged others to work together for the good of the O&P profession and its patients, according to the award announcement.
“I first met Ashlie at the 2015 lower limb [Local Coverage Determination] hearing in Baltimore,” said Todd Eagen, OPGA president. “Since then, she has become a national leader for the O&P profession advocating for positive legislation. Ashlie has played a key role in recent congressional wins, and I couldn’t be happier that she has been recognized as this year’s O&P woman of the year.”
