The American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (AOPA) has awarded the first-ever Professor Hans Georg Näder Digital O&P Care Award to David Boone, PhD, MPH, CP. It was presented to Boone in conjunction with the 2022 AOPA national assembly in San Antonio, Texas, in September. AOPA’s Digital O&P Care workgroup selected Boone based on the magnitude of his work in the O&P digital care space as an innovator, developer, and researcher over the last 40 years.
“Dr. Boone has spent decades contributing to research in the digital space He has been involved with CAD development, microprocessor component development, outcomes data collection, management, and much more. On behalf of the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association, I am proud to announce that Dr. Boone is the first recipient of the Professor Hans Georg Näder Digital O&P Care Award for his numerous contributions to improvements in digital clinical care for the patients our profession serves,” said David McGill, AOPA president.
The award was established this year by a gift from Ottobock Healthcare in honor of Näder and his contributions to O&P worldwide. The purpose is to prepare the O&P profession for the future as digital care and innovations in technology continue to lead the direction of patient care.
“We have partnered with AOPA to create this award to recognize the importance of advancing the digitalization of the O&P industry through research, education, technology, and treatment solutions,” Näder said. “Ottobock is committed to bringing innovation to people through partnerships like this one. Technology that serves people is one of our highest ambitions. We are proud to be able to honor those who also believe in the importance of digital O&P care.”
