Northwestern University Prosthetic-Orthotic Center (NUPOC) has named Michael Cavanaugh, CPO, as its new director of education, beginning November 1. Cavanaugh, instructor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, had been serving as interim director of the program for the past year.

Cavanaugh received an undergraduate degree in industrial engineering from University of Iowa and his certificates in O&P from NUPOC and worked as a clinician at several private prosthetic-orthotic providers, most recently at Scheck and Siress in Chicago. He also received a master’s degree in health informatics from Northwestern in 2020.
Cavanaugh will report to Elliot Roth, MD, chair, physical medicine and rehabilitation. He will be responsible for leading the faculty, the students, and the operations of all education programs at NUPOC.
