A Wisconsin native and youngest of four, Cassie Peeters, CP, says that her family has had a significant influence on her career. She received practical advice from her grandmother about working with older patients-“talk slower and make sure you explain, in easy terms, what you’re doing,” her grandmother advised. But Peeters’ initial encouragement to consider O&P came from her sister. Peeters’ niece and goddaughter, Paige, who has spina bifida, had an AFO casting appointment, and Peeters’ sister asked her to come along. While this initial exposure to the O&P profession did not immediately put her on that career path, the seed was planted. A later chance meeting brought her back to another O&P appointment and instilled in her a passion for prosthetics.
