The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) added O&P code updates to the Required Face-to-Face and Written Order Prior to Delivery List; the Required Prior Authorization List; and the Master List of Items Potentially Subject to Face-to-Face Encounter, Written Order Prior to Delivery and Prior Authorization. The changes become effective on October 28.
CMS added Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) orthosis codes L-0486, L-0456, L-0457, L-1833, L-1906, L-1933, L-1952, L-3761, and L-3916 to the Required Face-to-Face and Written Order Prior to Delivery List. These codes must have a documented face-to-face encounter within six months prior to the written order.
HCPCS orthosis codes L-1833, L-0456, L-0457, L-0486, L-3761, L-3916 were added to the Required Prior Authorization List. CMS said it will publish subregulatory guidance regarding the implementation of the items to the program.
HCPCS orthosis codes L-0456, L-0486, L-1833, L-1933, L-1952, L-3916, and prosthesis code L-5827 were added to the Master List. The additions to the Master List indicate that the items are eligible to be added to the Required Face-to-Face and Written Order Prior to Delivery List and/or the Required Prior Authorization List in the future.
