From the day I first learned about O&P, I knew this was how I was meant to make my impact and influence the lives of others. I had never seen a profession so beautifully integrated with all aspects of art, anatomy, biology, and biomechanics—I was hooked.
Since entering the profession, compounding effects of significant health concerns and a love for all things athletic has resulted in my passion and pursuit of wellness, which has grown and become an integral part of my identity. I have worked tirelessly to intertwine my love for health with my role as a CPO. On the surface, O&P seems like an avenue to influence a population that has been largely plagued with vascular or metabolic diseases. But when working in a clinical setting, I found myself fatigued by what I would previously describe as caring more for my patients than they cared for themselves. I was worn out from pushing compliance, fighting insurance companies, attending physical therapy appointments, prescribing home exercise programs, and staying late—all to not have my efforts matched by the ones I was fighting for.
