For The O&P EDGE, this was especially true once people received their December 2008 issue, which focused on O&P education programs and the National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE)-mandated entry-level master's degree in prosthetics and orthotics by 2010. You called, sent e-mails, or mailed letters telling us exactly where you stand on the issue. In addition, our monthly online reader's poll, which asked about the entry-level requirement, received more responses than any other poll we've run. Clearly there are strong opinions on both sides of this issue-one of which we highlight in this month's Perspective, "We Have Met the Enemy, and It Is Us!." There are others who would like to continue the dialogue. Stay tuned. This month, we asked a panel of industry experts for their insights on what the future might hold for the O&P industry. In true fashion, our experts did not disappoint. In part one of a three-part series, Judith Philipps Otto reveals several "Trends to Track", and Brady Delander talks to O&P professionals about what the future of O&P manufacturing might look like . Thank you for your continued readership, and, as always, keep sending us your ideas, comments, and suggestions. Correction One of the answers in the December 2008 "Got FAQs?" contained incorrect information. The answer to the question, "What are the benefits of being a Medicare participating provider?" incorrectly stated that Medicare participating providers receive a 5 percent higher reimbursement than non-participating providers. Durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS) suppliers are excluded from this. We deeply regret the error and any confusion or inconvenience it may have caused.
