The Hanger Charitable Foundation, Austin, Texas, completed its first round of 2017 grants, awarding $59,600 to 11 nonprofit organizations. The most recent grant recipients include local and national organizations that serve a variety of communities, as follows:
· Adaptive Sports USA, 2017 Adaptive Sports USA Junior Nationals: $5,000 to host an annual, multisport event for youth with physical disabilities and/or visual impairments
· Angel City Sports, Adaptive Sports Opportunities in Southern California: $10,000 to support various efforts to grow the adaptive sports community in Southern California
· Camp for All Foundation, 2017 Camp for All 2 U: $5,000 to provide a camp experience to children at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas, Austin
· Catalyst Sports, All Outdoors! : $10,000 to provide adaptive adventure opportunities, including adaptive climbing, to people with physical challenges
· Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association, 2017 Camp Footprint: $10,000 to support programs at a summer camp for children with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease
· Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida, Putting Disabilities on Ice: $1,100 to support sled hockey programs for individuals with disabilities
· Kali’s Klub House, Therapeutic Riding and Hippotherapy: $2,500 to provide therapeutic riding and the opportunity to play sports on horseback for children with physical challenges
· Project MEND, Medical Equipment: $2,500 to provide wheelchairs to people with mobility challenges in Texas
· Project Summit, Project Support: $6,000 to fund a summer camp and an adaptive bicycle program for children with limb loss or limb difference
· Sepsis Alliance, Sepsis 911 Community Education Kit: $2,500 to develop an educational video and community training package to educate people about sepsis
· Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges, Rehabilitative Fitness Program: $5,000 for programming to help people with physical challenges improve strength and stamina through structured exercise using adaptive and assistive equipment
