John W. Michael, MEd, CPO, has retired from the Northwestern University Prosthetics-Orthotics Center (NUPOC). Michael co-directed NUPOC since 2009. In 2018, NUPOC announced Michael’s intent to retire after he contributed his professional expertise throughout the transition to new leadership. J. Chad Duncan, PhD, CRC, CPO, was named the new director in January 2019.
Michael has been recognized as a leader and contributor to the O&P profession. He has received numerous awards, including the Titus-Ferguson lifetime achievement award, Outstanding Researcher award, Distinguished Practitioner award, and Outstanding Clinician award. He is also a Fellow of the International Society for Prosthetics & Orthotics.
