Live in Motion Foundation, formerly the Orthotics and Prosthetics Foundation for Education and Research, named Robert Martinez, Levy Rico, Autumn LeGuerre, and RaShad Poindexter as recipients of its 2026 Access to Care, Workforce Development Scholarships.
Winners of the O&P Assistant Scholarship were Martinez and Rico.
Martinez began his career in O&P in 1996 and currently is a prosthetic technician with Hackensack Meridian Health. Rico is an orthotic technician with more than 12 years in the profession.
Pedorthics Scholarship Recipients were LeGuerre and Poindexter.
LeGuerre is a licensed massage therapist with more than 20 years of experience. She currently enrolled in an ABC pedorthic pre-certification to pursue certification as a certified pedorthist. Poindexter is a physical education teacher and coach with 19 years of experience. His goal is to become a certified pedorthist and establish a practice providing gait analysis, custom orthotics, therapeutic footwear, and foot care services. He hopes to serve athletes of all ages, individuals with diabetes, and others experiencing foot and lower-limb conditions.
The scholarship supports emerging O&P assistants and pedorthists as they pursue the education, training, and clinical experience required to enter these professions. Each recipient will receive a $5,000 scholarship to help offset education, training, clinical-hour, or travel expenses associated with pursuing professional certification.
