Over the past two years, several national organizations representing the O&P profession have worked collaboratively to try to improve access to upper-limb prosthetic care. Although this effort is clearly a work in progress, there are signs that this collective advocacy is beginning to yield progress.
The O&P Alliance, comprised of five national organizations, NAAOP, AOPA, ABC, BOC, and the Academy, have worked in conjunction with the Academy’s Upper Limb Prosthetics Society to address deficiencies in the Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) pertaining to upper-limb prosthetic care.
