Instruction was provided by Don Zommer, National Amputee Golf Association First Swing instructor. and assisted by John Benway. The morning session saw a group of 17 local therapists, golf teaching pros and O&P professionals who learned more about adapting the game of golf to individuals with physical challenges. Adaptive equipment, safety instructions and rules of the game were discussed. The group then went to the driving range where they practiced hitting golf balls from different positions, seated, using one arm, and standing on one leg, to help gain a better appreciation and understanding of what those with physical challenges can face.
More than 25 participants took part in the afternoon session on the driving range.
