Tom LeTourneau, president of LeTourneau Prosthetics, Beaumont, Texas, recently was appointed to the Beaumont Mayor's Committee for People with Disabilities. "I am thrilled to be a part of this committee, and hope I can help in accomplishing its goal," said LeTourneau. The committee's objective is to bring the community working together to ensure equal access and opportunities for people through caring, concern, and action. Mayor Evelyn Lord welcomed new members, stating: "I am extremely proud of this disability commission and its efforts and achievements." The committee has achieved great strides in the community and has received state and national awards for its efforts, she said. LeTourneau, who founded LeTourneau Prosthetics in 1993, has been noted as a leader in advanced O&P development and design. His firm developed Perfect Skin® and the Te-Evolution® socket design and uses advanced CAD systems, including TracerCAD with the Omega T-Ring. He received the 1999 Beaumont Chamber of Commerce Small Business Person of the Year award and has twice been named as Hometown Hero by a local television station and the Chamber of Commerce. He has been supportive of numerous local charities, including Boy's Haven, a local residential facility for boys 8 -18 years old.
