Michael J. Gatto has joined East Coast Orthotic & Prosthetic Corporation as its new vice president of operations. East Coast is headquartered in Mineola, New York, with facilities in Buffalo, New York. "East Coast Orthotic & Prosthetic Corp., in its seventh year, has steadily emerged as one of the largest manufacturers and service providers in the New York tri-state region of prosthetic and bracing orthotic devices, and has relationships with more than 20 medical centers and hospitals," the company noted. Prior to joining East Coast, Gatto was the senior administrator for Primary Care Medicine & Medical/Surgical Specialties at Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, New York. Before his appointment at Montefiore, Gatto held the position of director of several diagnostic practices and was the administrator for Corporate Affairs at Health Management Corporation, Melville, New York. Gatto also held the position of senior administrator at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center , Patchogue, New York. Gatto is a graduate of Long Island University - C.W. Post College where he earned both a bachelors degree in business management and a masters degree in public administration in healthcare and hospital management. He also holds a certificate from Columbia University's Ambulatory Care Management Institute. Gatto is active within his community where he is the medical officer for the Dix Hills, Long Island, Fire Department. He holds certifications as a New York State advanced emergency medical technician (AEMT), advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS), and is an American Heart Association and Red Cross instructor in CPR and external automated defibrillator (AED). He is also a critical incident stress debriefer for Suffolk County, as well as a county advanced life support field preceptor. He was awarded the "Good Hands Award" by the Allstate Insurance Company for his outstanding volunteer work, and he is a recipient of the "Distinguished Alumni Award" from Long Island University. Gatto is an adjunct professor at Long Island University - C.W. Post College, where he teaches classes for the College of Management in the School of Health and Public Administration.
