It is with deep sorrow that SPS, Alpharetta, Georgia, announces the death of fellow employee and friend Jeff Green. Jeffrey Winfield Green, 35, died on Friday January 6, 2006, in a one-car automobile accident in Forsyth County, Georgia. Jeff's remarkable skills were the perfect combination of modern technology and old-world craftsmanship. His vast knowledge of prosthetics extended to every level of componentry and hardware and was complimented by an artistic eye, and the creativity of an artisan. His sharp mind and perfectionist tendencies allowed him to master any new task quickly. Blessed with a great wit, SPS experienced his joy of life and effervescent attitude. A friend to all he met, he will be remembered with a smile on his face and laughter in his voice. Jeff's career with SPS began in 1991 at the Alpharetta Central Fabrication Facility. His thirst for new experiences gave way to his zest for accuracy and the ability to share his knowledge with others. He quickly rose in the ranks to Supervisor. Jeff was promoted to Manager of Technical Services/Education for SPS in 2000. At SPS he was part of the product evaluation team, directed both customer and SPS education programs and supported the sales team. If an SPS employee or customer had a product or technical question, Jeff either had the answer or found the answer. Ron May, President of SPS fondly remembers of Jeff, "You just felt better when Jeff came into a room. His personality was contagious; his knowledge, helpful to all." Committed to life-long learning, Jeff was instrumental in the founding and leadership of OPTA (Orthotic and Prosthetic Technological Association). Jeff originally served as Treasurer of the organization in its infancy and was then elected President when OPTA was reorganized. Jeff gave numerous presentations at various state and regional meetings directed at sharing his skills and knowledge with technicians across the industry. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. --SPS
