First PrimeFare West Highlights Region D Directors

The PrimeCare O&P Network LLC launched the first western version of its annual PrimeFare seminar in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Friday, February 10, with a presentation by guest speakers Mark D. Pilley, MD, medical director in Region D for Cigna Government Services (CGS) Durable Medical Equipment Regional Carrier (DMERC), and Robert Hoover, MD, MPH, former DMERC medical director for Region D.

Pilley and Hoover delivered the keynote address that opened the two-day seminar and responded to questions from a standing-room-only audience.

The new PrimeFare event, designed to offer a continuing education opportunity to O&P industry personnel in the western United States, also afforded the PrimeCare O&P Network an opportunity to introduce its benefits and services to O&P providers in a portion of the country not previously served by PrimeCare.

"Our research showed that this area was underserved with regard to educational meetings," explained PrimeCare President Catherine Griffith Pruitt. "This coincided with our recent decision to expand the network's coverage to include more O&P providers in the western United States, where we have previously not pursued a significant presence."

Held at the Marriott City Center in Salt Lake City, PrimeFare West followed the successful formula of the original PrimeFare seminar which has been held annually in Tennessee for the last six years, and included concurrent academic tracks in Orthotics, Prosthetics, Pedorthics, Technician Studies, and O&P Business Administration, where interactive sessions in business strategy and management elicited lively audience response.

Attendance figures exceeded projected goals by more than ten percent and exhibitor presence was 30 percent above expectations, according to PrimeCare. From a recruitment perspective, the meeting was also an unqualified success, noted Pruitt. "As a result of the seminar, we are currently exploring membership with providers in California, Oregon, and a number of other states. And given the enthusiasm and encouragement we have received from attendees, vendors, and sponsors, we look forward to making the PrimeFare West seminar in Salt Lake City an ongoing annual event."

PrimeFare West event sponsors included Otto Bock, PEL, Townsend Design, Freedom Innovations, College Park Industries, Ohio Willow Wood, and P.W. Minor.

The original PrimeFare East event will continue to be held annually in Nashville, Tennessee.
