TEPR to Showcase Healthcare Wireless Locating, Tracking Demo

Patient Care Technology Systems, Parco Wireless, and Medical Records Institute (MRI) have joined to stage the largest demonstration of wireless locating and tracking technology ever in healthcare, according to MRI. The first-of-its-kind demonstration will take place during MRI's 22nd Annual TEPR [ T owards the E lectronic P atient R ecord] Conference and Exhibit May 20-24, 2006, in the Baltimore Convention Center, Baltimore, Maryland.

Up to 1,000 TEPR 2006 attendees will be given a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag that will track their location by set "zones" throughout the conference. The zones will mimic a busy urban hospital. Attendees will be able to be tracked in the "Emergency Department," "Perioperative Suite," "Lab," or "Hospital Room."

TEPR will bring practical, real-world advice to its audience with programs such as the Clinical Documentation Challenge where EMR systems are publicly demonstrated, the Mock Trial, which puts the need for the Continuity of Care Record (CCR) on trial, and the Super EMR Road Show TM , according to its website, www.tepr.com

Hot topics will be debated, such as the usability of Clinical Document Architecture (CDA), EMR vs. EHR defined, and Interoperability issues.
