Keith Elliott, a technician at Next Step Orthotics & Prosthetics, Manchester, New Hampshire, died peacefully Saturday, November 24, at his home in Greenfield. He was 51. Elliott was born August 28, 1956, in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Wade and Jessie Elliott. In 1976, Elliott moved from Boxford, Massachusetts to Peterborough, New Hampshire. He was a graduate of Masconomet High School in Topsfield, Massachusetts, and held an associate degree from Keene State College in New Hampshire. He served in the Navy from 1974-76, working on oil ships and offthe coast of Vietnam rescuing boat people. Elliott later joined the Merchant Marine, serving on the Great Lakes and around the world, and he lived for a time in Costa Rica. He was a member of the Seafarers Union, and he built a geodesic dome house in Greenfield between assignments. Elliott loved the sea, ships, and driving his 1967 Camaro convertible. He also was sports fanatic and had a great love for the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. You would often hear him in the hallway in the morning saying, "How about them Red Sox?" Elliott was an above-knee amputee. He lost his leg approximately 20 years ago in a motorcycle accident. In 2004, he decided to enter the prosthetic field. Peter Couture, CP, president of Next Step O&P, knew Elliott for many years and noted that he was a great friend and employee. Elliott was the type of person who would give you the shirt offhis back, Couture noted.
