The Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) announced the election of David Samson, president of Major League Baseball's Florida Marlins, to its board of directors. Samson has strong ties to both endurance sports and charitable causes. He has personally raised more than $250,000 for charities, including CAF and the Florida Marlins Community Foundation. In 2006, he completed the Ford Ironman World Championship Triathlon in Kona, Hawaii, and he chose CAF as his Ironman charity. He has since raised $100,000 to help physically challenged athletes compete in sports.
