The Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification, International
(BOC) has changed its name to The Board of
Certification/Accreditation, International (BOC). The change was
made through a unanimous decision of the BOC’s board of directors
at an August 26 board meeting, after what BOC called “an extended
public comment period.” Preston Madler, BOCO, chairman of the
board, stated, “Our certificants thought long and hard about it;
they used the public comment period to give the board their
opinions. And as their representatives, the board of directors has
now formally recognized that BOC’s responsibilities have grown. Our
new name speaks both to our current activities and to BOC’s
potential for future growth within the realm of allied healthcare,
both nationally and internationally. I’m proud to say that we have
taken this step with absolutely no opposition.”
