The Rhode Island Science and Technology Advisory Council (STAC)
has awarded a grant of approximately $200,000 to a team of Rhode
Island researchers who hope to develop a reliable stumble-detection
system for prosthetic legs. The team includes He “Helen” Huang,
PhD, University of Rhode Island (URI), Providence; Susan E.
D’Andrea, PhD, Brown University, Providence; and Michael Nunnery,
CPO, Nunnery Orthotic & Prosthetic Technologies, North
Kingston.
