Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, has formed a product-development company called Kinetic Revolutions. The new company will focus on the development of O&P componentry. Its initial endeavor will involve integrating energy harvested from human movement into O&P devices.
“The technology is there,” explains Jeffrey M. Brandt, CPO, the CEO and founder of both Ability and Kinetic Revolutions. “We need to start implementing energy harvesters to power the devices our amputees and brace wearers utilize. The maturity of Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics over the past six years into an advanced-device patient care company has given our practitioners and engineers tremendous insight into the types of components that will interface with the products of tomorrow.”
The newly formed company will be headquartered in Frederick, Maryland. Brandt adds, “The Frederick region offers many opportunities to incubate such a company.”
