Over the next three months, more than 500,000 people per day passing through New York City’s Times Square will see the Amputee Coalition’s limb loss awareness message running on Clear Channel’s 40-foot by 40-foot streaming billboard in conjunction with CNN’s news, weather, and sports. The board will display people with limb loss of all ages and from all walks of life performing daily activities, and people will be encouraged to visit the Amputee Coalition’s website to take an online limb-loss risk assessment at 507aday.org and learn more about limb loss.
The Amputee Coalition said it is sponsoring this three-month campaign “with a generous public education grant from Otto Bock HealthCare (Duderstadt, Germany).”
“We are proud of our partnership with the Amputee Coalition,” Bert Harman, president and CEO of Otto Bock North America, Minneapolis, Minnesota, said. “Helping this message to reach millions fits our mission well.”
The billboard is part of a nationwide campaign the Amputee Coalition launched that showcases April as National Limb Loss Awareness Month. Located in Duffy Square at 47th and Broadway, the messages will appear on the Clear Channel Spectacolor digital streaming billboard four times hourly, 24 hours a day, through June.
“We are very excited to have this significant opportunity to get the word out about limb-loss awareness,” Kendra Calhoun, president and CEO of the Amputee Coalition, said. “Otto Bock has been a key partner of the Amputee Coalition for many years, and we are extraordinarily pleased to have their support for our public education initiative.”
