Brandon Barth, a board-eligible orthotist, suffered an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and passed away on April 9, 2011. He was 26.
Barth was an orthotics resident at the Phoenix, Arizona, Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics patient care facility.
Hanger Area Practice Manager Bret Bostock, CO, said, “As Brandon’s residency was winding down, he showed a great understanding in the world of orthotics. Truly driven to help change the standard of care, Brandon was focused on changing the lives and outcomes of neurological patients. In the short couple of years we had the honor to work with him, Brandon challenged us all to do better and he truly connected with all of the people and patients he worked with. His passion and drive is unmatched by many. If we all pushed the limits of what we can do for others as Brandon did, the world would surely be a better place. Words cannot completely express the love our group has for Brandon. He is a great man, friend, and professional, and he will be greatly missed by all but never forgotten.”
Barth is survived by his mother and father, Mary and Brandon Barth of Maple Grove, Minnesota, a brother Jordan, and two sisters, Morgan and Caitlin, and the love of his life, Alexis Marohn also of Maple Grove.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Brandon Barth Memorial Fund. A Wells Fargo account (Acct # 6836053923) has been set up by the family to collect donations that will be distributed to charitable causes, likely stroke-related charities.
