Össur, Reykjavik, Iceland, marked the official opening of its new manufacturing facility in Tijuana, Mexico, on September 23.
Össur started to build up the manufacturing unit in September 2010, and has since transferred the manufacturing of spinal products from the United States to Mexico. By the end of the year, all bracing and supports currently manufactured in the United States will be transferred to Mexico. Currently, about 100 people are employed in Mexico and by year-end that numbers is expected to rise to about 160 employees.
