The Kentucky Board of Prosthetics, Orthotics and Pedorthics recently affirmed the conclusion of an independent report that found that the Board for Certification/Accreditation (BOC) and American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC) certification exams are equally valid testing options. The original Kentucky law mentions that both will be accepted, but that was just for the grandfathering period, which was two years from the effective date of the legislation, according to a BOC representative. A regulation change in 2012 excluded BOC from the list, but with this latest affirmation, the board voted to recommend adding BOC to the state’s regulations as a testing provider for licensure candidates.
