Joshua Mullen, CPO, has received the Faxton Cup Award from the Regional Rehabilitation Center at Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare (FSLH), Utica, New York, for his dedication to the enhancement of the quality of life for people with physical disabilities. The award, presented to Mullen at a ceremony on September 16, honors those who set an example of what people with disabilities can accomplish or who work on behalf of people with physical disabilities. Mullen, who has a congenital left transradial amputation, is the owner of Empire Orthopedic Laboratories, Yorkville, New York.
“Josh’s visible disability is an inspiration to his patients who feel an immediate connection to him and believe that he can truly understand their difficulties,” Amanda Straney, PT, DPT, physical therapy and occupational therapy acute care manager at FSLH, told the Rome Observer. “While he is happy to discuss his own disability, Josh doesn’t consider himself disabled.”
