The Durable Medical Equipment Medicare Administrative Contractors (DME MACs) have released a joint publication with the Medicare Pricing, Data Analysis, and Coding (PDAC) contractor that states the Myomo MyoPro® upper-limb assistive device has been evaluated and determined to fall within the durable medical equipment (DME) benefit category. Claims for MyoPro should be submitted using code E-1399, DME, miscellaneous. (In April, the DME MACs and PDAC contractor had determined the device must be coded as A-9300, exercise equipment.)
Further, this item is classified under the capped-rental payment methodology as it does not meet the requirements to be categorized as an inexpensive or routinely purchased item.
