Major League Football (MLFB), a new, professional spring football league scheduled to start in 2016, announced the appointment of Mayfield Armstrong, ATC, CPed/L, as its sports medical consultant. Armstrong holds Hall of Fame Honors at Nicholls State University and the Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association. His professional football training and medical consulting includes the NFL Europe and the NFL, for which he was head trainer and consultant, respectively. Armstrong will begin his consulting duties with MLFB ahead of the league’s training camp and he will consult with MLFB’s league-wide physicians to promote the health of league players and advise the league on medical insurance related issues.
Armstrong is employed as an athletic trainer by Champion Sports Medicine, Birmingham, Alabama. He is also the CEO of First & Ten Health & Fitness, headquartered in Birmingham, an independent consulting service that previously performed the health and fitness evaluations for the NFL game officials.
