On March 16, Theodore Deininger, Kirksville, Missouri, was sentenced to 15 months in prison and ordered to pay $150,000 in restitution. According to court documents, from 2007 to 2014, Deininger, a former certified prosthetist-orthotist, billed Medicare for four prosthetic legs, claiming that they were new, but instead provided the patients with used ones.
Deininger was indicted in August 2015 and pled guilty in December 2015 to four felony counts of healthcare fraud.
