LimBionics of Durham, North Carolina, hosted an OPAF First Stride and First Things First Training and Clinic on July 30 at the Brian Center of Durham. A morning clinic for therapists and adaptive recreation professionals covered outcome measures, K-levels, and prosthetic feet and knees and their capabilities. Attendees at the morning session could also earn continuing education credits for the falls and recovery section that was held. More than 35 people attended the afternoon clinic held with patients and the therapists, which included exercises for strength and conditioning and a section on falls and recovery.
“Therapists and prosthetists gained incredible knowledge to elevate their patient care for amputees to a more skilled level, and the course was a lot of fun for amputees as well as packed full of information,” said Brittany Stresing, CPO, FAAOP, president of LimBionics of Durham.
