Noridian Healthcare Solutions has been awarded a $227 million Supplemental Medical Review Contractor (SMRC) contract by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). To support the new contract, Noridian will hire approximately 300 individuals, who will be located at Noridian’s headquarters in Fargo, North Dakota, and throughout the country. The company employs more than 1,500 staff members.
The primary role of the SMRC is to conduct nationwide medical review of Part A, Part B, and Durable Medical Equipment (DME) providers and suppliers as directed by CMS. The SMRC reviews medical records and related documentation to ensure that claims are processed in accordance with CMS guidelines.
Noridian holds five other Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) contracts including the Part A/Part B contracts for Jurisdictions E and F, the DME contracts for Jurisdictions A and D and the national Pricing, Data Analysis and Coding contract. In addition, Noridian supports claims processing for the Iowa Medicaid Program.
