I was wondering what members of the list-serv feelings might be about
information I received regarding Hanger/SPS and direct selling to patients.
An orthotic and prosthetic company (Hanger) with nine business units has
acquired an online medical device retail company to direct sell to
patients/customers. See the website below. Also, there is a storefront on
Amazon.com, “Advanced Sports Medicine”, with over 2700 reviews. This
storefront is also owned by Hanger. We know that DME companies have been
doing this for a long time, but this time it is different. An O&P parent
company that runs a distribution company, patient care facilities and now
DME company, amongst other things, is something we haven’t seen before in
our field.
