Ottobock.care North America, headquartered in Texas, appointed Taffy E. Bowman, CPO, FAAOP, as its national residency director. With nearly 30 years of experience in clinical O&P, Bowman will lead Ottobock.care’s National Residency Program.
Bowman will oversee the expansion and development of the company’s residency initiatives, including this year’s launch of the inaugural National Residency Rotation Program. The National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education recently approved the program that will provide residents with the opportunity to train at multiple Ottobock.care clinics across the country, gaining exposure to diverse patient populations, practice environments, and clinical specialties. The program’s goal is to create a highly collaborative and supportive learning environment for residents, directors, and mentors.
“Having worked in clinical O&P practice for almost 30 years and having a passion for seeing residents succeed, this role feels like the perfect culmination of my experience and dedication to the profession,” said Bowman.
Her extensive background in patient care, clinical management, and mentorship makes her uniquely positioned to lead the residency program, the company said. Throughout her career, Bowman has trained and guided numerous young clinicians, fostering a commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centered care. She continues to serve as the Eastern Pennsylvania regional clinical manager for Ottobock.care and the residency director for positions in Pennsylvania and Maryland, while also taking on a national leadership role.
“Ottobock is known as the human empowerment company,” Bowman said. “While we often associate this with empowering the patients we serve, it also applies to our employees—including our residents. Empowering them to become successful clinicians and future leaders in the profession is what this program is all about.”
