“Who Needs a PhD in O&P?” in the February issue of The O&P EDGE highlights the pros and cons of seeking an advanced degree in O&P. We wanted to hear our followers’ opinions, so we asked if they thought it was beneficial to have an O&P-focused PhD. Of those who responded, 83 percent said it was not worth the time or the money to spend the time getting an advanced degree; 12 percent said they are considering it; 2 percent said they already completed the doctorate, and the rest had another idea, but didn’t share it with us.
Last week, for something light and fun, we thought we’d ask our followers what they like to do once they’ve finished working for the day. Our question: What activity do you like to do after work? Of those who responded, 52 percent said they enjoy going outdoors; 31 percent said they like getting some exercise, like going to the gym; 10 percent said they enjoy baking or cooking in their down time; and 7 percent had something else in mind—like one of our followers, who said, “Some form of adult beverage is desirable, especially after busy clinic days.” Beer and wine emojis were even included.
For this week’s poll, we decided to address a hot topic that’s dominated the news lately: diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), the effects of which impact the O&P workplace and its patients. We’re asking: What are some of the advantages of DEI in the workplace?
It’s up and in full swing. So far, our followers are split between getting an eclectic talent pool and feeling a sense of belonging at work. Tell us what you think. We’d love to hear from you.
