Providing diabetic foot care for these patients can be challenging when complicated by factors including poor control of the underlying disease, diabetic skin issues that impact prosthesis fit and use, and side effects from medications. People with diabetes also face increased risks of nonhealing foot ulcers, amputation, and reamputation.
