Impaired or loss of foot sensation is a common complaint among people who suffer from peripheral neuropathy, commonly caused by type 2 diabetes. This reduced sensation in the feet can lead to foot ulcerations because the patient has become impervious to foot pain, and to a diminished sense of one’s center of gravity (COG), which in turn can affect gait and increase the risk for stumbling and falls.
