Claudia Zacharias, MBA, CAE, president and CEO of the Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC), was recognized by The Commonwealth Institute (TCI) – South Florida as a top 50 women-led business leader at a luncheon on May 18. TCI, a nonprofit organization devoted to advancing businesswomen in leadership positions, partnered with certified public accounting and advisory firm Kaufman Rossin, headquartered in Miami, Florida, to develop the list. More than 10,000 women-led businesses were surveyed.
Zacharias was recognized for the advances BOC has realized in the nearly eight years she has been with the organization. Under her leadership, BOC is the only one of eight Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services-deemed accrediting organizations to achieve net growth in the number of facilities accredited in recent years. Revenue has increased nearly 50 percent, due in part to the addition of two new credentialing programs, the Certified Durable Medical Equipment Specialist and Retail Pharmacy Accreditation. Zacharias’ launch of a full-time business development team, combined with a focus on technology and partnership-building, also contributed to the fiscal results. Additionally, Zacharias spearheaded a revamp of BOC’s customer service experience that garnered the organization seven Stevie® Awards for business development, customer service, and innovation.
“I am honored to have been recognized among this group of amazing businesswomen who are at the top of their respective fields,” said Zacharias. “My own passion and commitment is fueled by the dedication of BOC’s staff and board of directors, and I am fortunate to lead an organization of experienced team members who work to fulfill our mission every day.”
