The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) adjustments for the calendar year 2024 for the Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics and Supplies (DMEPOS) fee schedule. The increases range from 2.6 percent to 3 percent based on the item’s inclusion in the competitive bidding program and whether the patient resides in a former competitive bidding area.
The American Association for HomeCare provided a breakdown:
- Competitive bidding items in former competitive bidding areas (projected) will increase by 2.9 percent.
- Competitive bidding items in noncompetitive bidding areas (CPI-U) will increase by 3 percent.
- Noncompetitive bidding items (CPI-U minus a productivity adjustment) will increase by 2.6 percent.
