There are a good number of ways we can increase our professional growth, and one of those ways is through reading. One of our recent poll questions was, “What types of books do you prefer to read for professional development?” Of those who responded, 47 percent said leadership and management; 26 percent read technical and how-to books; 16 percent prefer biographies; and 11 percent said they like reading self-help and motivational books.
On X (formerly known as Twitter), it was unanimous for leadership and management books.
Though Thanksgiving may already seem like a distant memory, our followers had some family-loving traditions around the holiday. We asked, “What fun, long-celebrated traditions do you have with family and friends on Thanksgiving?” 67 percent said it was playing games; 17 percent it’s a tradition to offer a toast; 17 percent said they do something else but didn’t share.
On X, 50 percent said they offer a toast as a Thanksgiving tradition, with the rest split between crafting a centerpiece and playing games.
Now that Christmas is less than two weeks away (already?!) we recently asked our followers for their best Christmas memories. Seventy percent of the respondents said they love celebrating with loved ones, and 26 percent said they love decorating for the season. The balance had another memory in mind. Said one follower about favorites, “Holiday baking with family, from roasting pecans to making Christmas cookies.” Sounds lovely, we say to that.
On X, 50 percent said celebrating with loved ones provided some of their best holiday memories, with the rest choosing either opening presents or decorating for the season.
Last week, in a weightier topic, we asked about international product sourcing. Of those who responded to our question, “When sourcing products relating to O&P internationally what are some of your top concerns?” Sixty-seven percent said lead time and shipping posed the biggest concerns; 29 percent said product quality; 4 percent said payment safety; but no one said it led to communication barriers.
Our poll this week is back to a holiday theme—office Christmas parties and after-work holiday events. Our question: “Do you look forward to attending office parties or after-work holiday events?” It’s up and in full swing. So far, our voters are in the holiday spirit, they say they love going to office parties and after-work events. Tell us what you think. We’d love to hear from you.
