Findings from a study developed by Hanger Clinic Cranial Specialist Jim Brookshier, MSPO, CPO/L, in conjunction with Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine, were published in the March issue of the Journal of Neurosurgery: Pediatrics.
The findings on cranial orthosis treatment of positional skull deformation in infants are the outcome of a seven-year (2007-14) study conducted at Texas Children’s Craniofacial Clinic. During that time, Brookshier used 3D laser surface scanning to evaluate more than 500 patients pre- and post-treatment, offering insights into the efficacy of orthotic intervention and factors related to treatment adherence.
This is among the largest studies of its kind to be done on cranial orthosis outcomes.
