The board of directors of the Board of Certification/Accreditation, International (BOC), has appointed Claudia Zacharias, MBA, CAE, as president of the organization, effective Monday, August 24.
According to the BOC, Zacharias brings more 20 years of association, credentialing, and institutional recognition and accreditation programs experience, most recently in the healthcare field through her tenure with the American Nurses Credentialing Center and other leading organizations.
“After a very thorough executive search, qualification, and interview process, our board of directors is very pleased to welcome Claudia Zacharias to BOC,” said BOC Chairman Preston Madler, BOCO. “Her credentials, experience, and accomplishments reflect very highly her depth of operational and tactical skills, but more importantly the requisite transformational leadership necessary to take BOC to the next level.
“We appreciate very greatly Greg Safko’s strategic direction and management of BOC over the past two years and firmly believe we’re now poised to identify and achieve many new goals with Claudia Zacharias upon the solid foundation he’s built for the organization.”
In addition to her expertise in credentialing and accreditation spheres, Zacharias was also involved in complex technology projects involving organizational branding, business-intelligence systems, website architecture and content-management systems, mission-enhancing business plans, marketing, and customer service.
Safko announced his resignation in June. He will become the first staff president to lead the Joanna M. Nicolay Melanoma Foundation (JMNMF), a non-profit public charity founded in January 2004 after his mother-in-law lost her struggle against melanoma, the most serious and lethal form of skin cancer.
“I am very honored to have served BOC, International, as president and likewise extremely confident that BOC will be extremely well-served by Claudia Zacharias in the staff leadership role,” Safko said. “I wish Claudia well, and the BOC board of directors know that I’m available to assist the organization in any capacity I can moving forward.”
