In spite of the struggling economy and flooding in host city Nashville, Tennessee, the number of people who attended or exhibited at this year’s PrimeFare East, one of PrimeCare O&P Network’s two annual educational symposia, matched last year’s record-breaking numbers, according to event organizers. The event was held June 4-5 at the Nashville Convention Center.
“We really appreciated everyone that supported both the meeting as well as the city of Nashville with their presence there,” said Kevin Pruitt, PrimeCare recruiting director. “Many organizations got ‘spooked’ by the news media coverage of the flooding and moved their events to other cities, which really hurt the city’s revenues.”
Jane Edwards, a PrimeCare partner and the network’s vice president of operations, added, “Once again, we had representation from a number of states both in the South and beyond, including states as far away as New York, Wisconsin, Virginia, and Texas.”
This year, the symposium featured two keynote speakers, Bonnie Williams, CIC, RN, who is director of infection control for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; and Kathy Dodson, who is senior director of government affairs for the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA).
According to PrimeFare, the meeting was “very well received” by attendees and exhibitors.
“As a business owner and primary caregiver in my business, I am keenly aware of all the pressures currently affecting our industry,” commented Terry Graybeal, CPO, and president of Kingsport Brace & Limb, Tennessee. “[Attending] PrimeFare this year was an excellent way to learn, network, and stay current. I especially appreciated the warmth and hospitality of the key team members who worked to organize this event. Every detail was well done. I look forward to further discussions regarding the PrimeCare Network….”
Tom Kimball, president of Pro-Tech Orthopedics, Northborough, Massachusetts, added, “Even though I have stepped away for a few years, it is still nice to see after returning to the PrimeFare East the meeting is still as fresh and interactive as I remembered it….”
PrimeFare West 2011 will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah, February 17-19. PrimeFare East 2011 is scheduled for June 3-4 in Nashville.
