SPS, headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia, began full operations at its fifth distribution center in Bolingbrook, Illinois, on August 1.
The new facility, which will service the north central United States, increases SPS’ warehouse capacity approximately 24 percent and brings its total combined distrtibution space to approximately 235,000 square feet. The increase in total warehouse space will enable SPS to provide its Midwest customers with products in a shorter time and at a lower shipping cost, according to an SPS press release.
“We are now able to stock significantly greater numbers of the products our customers want and need every day,” said Eric Craig, vice president of operations for SPS.
Connie Withers, vice president of sales for SPS, added, “The return of a Chicago distribution-center facility marks a significant fulfillment of [an] SPS promise to Midwest customers who relied upon its swift and reliable service for many years. The addition of a new training facility in Chicgo will also compliment SPS’ expanding product education programs.”
